Humhum waterfall, Srimangal

The most amazing things in life cannot be achieved without enduring hardship and showing determination towards it. Such is the experience of Hum hum waterfall in Moulvibazar.
Hum hum waterfall is located in the Razkandi Reserve forest in Moulvibazar District. The waterfall at Hum hum is about 135 – 160 feet high and is best during the rainy reason. Moulvibazar is best known for its tea gardens and specially the 7 layer tea. Humhum is in a remote and hilly part of Moulvibazar. This area is quite underdeveloped in comparison to the rest of Sylhet but that actually helps to preserve the natural beauty. People don’t usually travel to Humhum too often and that is because the walk to the main tourist attraction, the Humhum waterfall, is not easy therefore only the young and adventurous people choose to visit this place. The lack of mass tourist attraction prevents further investments for the development of this area, such as better accomodations or restaurants.
How to get there?
It really is quite simple. All you must do is, go to mohakhali bus stand or any ENA bus stand and book yourself seats for Srimangal bus station. There are other bus services that will take you to Srimangal bus stand, such as Hanif Paribahan, Shyamoli Paribahan, and Munmun Enterprise.
Once you are at the Srimangal bus stand just rent a CNG autorickshaw or a jeep that will take you through the muddy paths, dusty roads, and beautiful forests. It should take about 2-4 hours to get to Hum hum.
After reaching Hum hum you can drop your bags at the shops there and hire a guide to start your trek from within the hills. It takes about 2 – 4 hours to trek through the hills, muddy paths, and banks of the stream to reach the Hum hum waterfall. Once you get there do not spend too much time bathing in the falls or taking pictures of the natural beauty because it would be wise to head back before it starts getting dark.
Tips: Do try your best to get to Srimangal Bus stand very early in the morning, preferably by 5 am or 6 am. Once you reach Hum hum please do not delay too much and start the trekking as early as possible because it is a long trek and it is quite a struggle to get back once it gets dark. Beware of leeches while trekking because there are too many of them during the rainy season. It is best to travel in a group rather than travelling alone. DO NOT FORGET TO CARRY PLENTY OF WATER, GLUCOSE OR SALINE, DRY FOOD, AND A FIRST AID KIT. REMEMBER TO WEAR FULL SLEEVE SHIRTS AND FOOTWEAR WITH GOOD GRIP TO AVOID ANY FALLS THAT COULD INJURE YOU VERY BADLY.
Where to eat there?
While staying at any hotel in Srimangal or Moulvibazar, there are many options to choose from. There are restaurants lined up every few meters with a wide range of choices. In Hum hum there are shops which will take your order for lunch before you start trekking and on your way back you can help yourself to some amazingly homemade food by the locals of the area that is both very hygienic and tasty.

There are many hotels to choose from when deciding to spend a night in Srimangal or Moulvibazar. You can choose to stay in Hotel Shonargaon, Parjatan Rest House, Sheraton Plaza, Hotel Helal, Hotel Rezia, or Hotel Grand Sultan.
There is a wide range of options open for all types of people with all types of budgets. If you are looking for an extremely luxurious stay then you can choose to spend a night in Hotel Shonargaon or Hotel Grand Sultan. If you are looking to spend a night or two with your friends on a low budget you can very well opt for Hotel Helal or Hotel Rezia.

Razkandi Reserve Forest

You can hire a guide to take you through the forest and take you to the spots which are most beautiful at the season you might choose to go in.
